LEGAL PRACTICE
Raymond Dague has his office in downtown Syracuse, New York at Suite 620 Empire Building, 472 South Salina Street, Syracuse, New York 13202 within walking distance from the Onondaga County courthouse and the federal courthouse. He has practiced law continuously in Syracuse since his admission to the New York bar in 1979, and has had his own law office since 1981 in a general practice covering many areas of law which individuals, families, churches, and small businesses encounter in our society. His practice includes church law, not-for-profit corporations, business law, real estate closings, litigation, bankruptcy, trusts, estates and wills, elder law, guardianships, adoptions, personal injury, criminal defense, traffic violations, and religious freedom defense. He has tried jury and non-jury cases in all of the city, state and federal courts in Syracuse and the surrounding area, and has filed and argued appeals in the supreme court appellate division. He has served as a special criminal prosecutor by appointment of the chief county court judge of Onondaga County.
PROFESSIONAL & COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
Raymond is an active member of the Christian Legal Society and where he serves on the national board of directors and also serves as the upstate New York membership director. He is the primary organizer of Christian Legal Society events for members in the central New York area, including the lawyer's Bible study breakfast in Syracuse. He is a member of the Federalist Society, a member of the Religious Liberties section of that Society, is affiliated with the American Center for Law and Justice, and the Center for Bioethics and Human Dignity. He is a member of the Onondaga County Bar Association. He is a frequent lecturer and regular writer of articles on law, legal ethics, religious freedom and pro-life issues in the local Christian newspaper and other publications. He has taught legal procedure to new attorneys for the New York State Bar Association. He serves on the advisory board of the Syracuse Friends for Life, and the Syracuse Christian Action Council. He is legal counsel for numerous churches and non-profit organizations.
PERSONAL INFORMATION
Raymond is married and resides with his wife Patricia and their two sons Ryan and Kevin in Syracuse. He has been an active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church since 1976 where he on the vestry, and where he has served numerous vestry terms. He is a avid amateur astronomer and is the observatory director for the Syracuse Astronomical Society. On dark clear weekend evenings he can frequently be found at the Astronomical Society's observatory where he operates the big telescope and shows visitors the wonders of God's creation in the night sky. His activities include enjoying classical and baroque music, reading history, economics and politics, long distance running, downhill skiing, photography, computers, target shooting, hiking upstate New York trails, cultivating his rose garden, and attending his sons' sporting events.
